About

Bill Labonia is a Brazilian-American screenwriter and filmmaker focused on stories about masculinity, generational conflict, and emotional identity. His work often centers on flawed men navigating inherited belief systems, fractured family dynamics, and the tension between traditional values and modern vulnerability.

His current feature project The Old Bug (O Velho Fusca) explores the ideological clash between a sensitive young man and his hard-edged grandfather as they restore a vintage car, using the vehicle as a metaphor for legacy and reconciliation. Labonia’s storytelling blends blue-collar realism with emotionally grounded character arcs, creating narratives that are culturally specific yet universally resonant.

Now based in the United States, Labonia develops original feature films and series aimed at global audiences, bridging Brazilian roots with American narrative sensibilities.
